Another good acronym to remember is Please Remember What's First, or P. R. W. F. This acronym gives you what steps in order of importance you should next take: Protection, Rescue, Water, and Food. Why is it in this order? Well, to help understand that, you will consider the Rule of 3s.
In a survival situation, a person can generally survive for 3 hours without shelter, 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food. So as you can clearly see, shelter and protection is your first priority. Once you are safe, looking for rescue is next. Then comes worrying about your water supply and finding a fresh source of water.
Finally, you will want to worry about food, but not until after you take care of the other steps. A good survival kit will have all the tools you need to take care of these three things very well. So there are three very useful emergency survival acronyms and phrases to remember. STOP, Please Remember What's First, and the Rule of 3s.
